NOTES:
Red Herring was a gift given to me by Ripley Marsh from Witch Creek Stables. It first started out as a lease, and after winning his first race with Firestone, we got the offer to buy him. Although we haven't had him for long, his endless list of achievements has been recognized fairly often.
In his 3 year old season, he rallied a total of 7 wins, 6 seconds, and 5 thirds, only placing out of the money once in the Breeders' Cup Classic*, where he fell short in 6th. His career could have ended there, but he pressed on into Year Fourteen. It's still early in the year for Red Herring, gathering 3 wins, 1 second, 3 thirds and placed out of the money once. His career doesn't stop there. He is scheduled to retire at the end of this year.
I think that Red Herring deserves this award because he simply never gives up. He is as tough as they come, battling it out to the wire with every stride he takes. Megs tells us "WOW what a colt. He's a star in the making. Remember that. I also LOVE his racing style. It's fancy, new, and individual."
